Meet the superstar dish also known as ‘potstickers’. This method gives you the soft, silky texture of the dumpling with a crispy underside that’ll make your taste buds sing. Trust us, the crunchy, slightly seasoned lace is epic.
This recipe is for one person, but you can double or triple it for more. Just make sure you’ve got a frying pan with a lid. Alternatively, cook in batches and keep them warm in the oven.
Consistency is key here – the batter, the oil, and the temperature. Steam the gyoza for 5 minutes, then fry them up. Arrange the gyoza in a star pattern, mix the batter, and drizzle between the dumplings. Cover and cook for 6-8 minutes. The lid keeps the top steamy soft while the bottom gets nice and crispy with a beautiful, tasty lace.

Crispy Gyoza - Serves 1*
*Suggested portion size 6 gyoza per person
Ingredients:
- Pouch of Ding Dong Dim Sum Gyoza (Chicken, Prawn, Veg, or Pork) 6x Gyoza
- ½ tsp plain flour
- ½ tsp cornflour
- 2 tbsp water
- Pinch of salt
- ½ tbsp oil
Method:
- Grab your pouch of Gyoza from the freezer and take out 6 dumplings (or more if you’re feeling generous).
- Steam the gyoza for 5 minutes.
- Heat a frying pan with ½ tbsp of oil on medium heat.
- Mix batter ingredients into a thin, white liquid.
- Arrange gyoza in a star shape in the pan, drizzle batter between them, and cover. Cook for 7-8 minutes.
- Check the lace in the last 2-3 minutes – golden means good.
- Flip onto a plate, crispy side up.
