Mid-Autumn Festival

Mid-Autumn Festival
The Mid-Autumn Festival falls on Monday 6 October 2025. Also known as the Moon Festival or Mooncake Festival, it’s a celebration of harvest, reunion and a very photogenic full moon. Lanterns are lit, stories are told, and families gather to share something delicious under the brightest moon of the year.

How can I celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival?
Apart from joining local lantern walks and supporting your favourite restaurants, there are plenty of lovely at-home ideas:
Moon-viewing
Step outside, find the moon, make a wish.
Lanterns & candles
Keep it cosy and glowy (indoor health & safety hat firmly on).
Share treats
Traditionally mooncakes and tea, but we’re also very pro-dumpling sharing.
Swap stories
The legend of Chang’e and the Jade Rabbit is a great place to start.

What to eat this Mid-Autumn Festival
The easiest way to mark the moment? A lantern-lit feast at home. Fill your steamer with a box (or three) of your favourites - Ding Dong Favourites, Celebrations, Legends — and add something sweet like Custard Buns for good luck and good vibes. Cosy, simple, very moon-appropriate.
